Abstract

This work describes a typology of structural elements in the self and relates it to Mintzberg's coordination mechanisms theory. Some relationships and similarities are established among both models. The observation of the changes in the functioning of organizations in which the predominant mechanisms of coordination are supervision and processes' standardization and which must evolve into combinations of mutual adjustment and standardization of skills, as it happens in the case of family companies or state owned organizations that implement professionalization processes, allows indicating elements to consider in the design of interventions.
