Abstract

This thematic section contributes to the discussion of policies, practices, and frameworks on school violence, school coexistence and school climate with empirical research, theoretical research or the systematization of interventions. The published articles address the topic from the review of the concept of school coexistence to the role of teachers and their functions in school intervention; participatory and pedagogical strategies to improve school coexistence; the use of socio-technical devices as methods for regulating coexistence and key factors for understanding the translation of public policies into local practices; the registry of incidents of aggressive or violent behavior; the implementation of state programs for better coexistence; analysis on the influence of micro-violence on classroom climate; comparative analysis of violence or school conflict in upper and lower social-class schools; criminalization of students in the press and its effects; and, finally, it also refers to the understanding of self-harm and suicide practices and the need to think about socio-educational intervention. These unpublished articles reflect a thorough look, the result of rigorous research that made use of various methodological and analytical approaches.
