Rape culture in Psy contexts
Keywords:

Rape culture is a structural and systematic issue in patriarchal, racist and sanist-ableist societies. Psi contexts (psychological, psychotherapeutic, psychiatric, etc.) are no immune to their reproduction, validation and invisibility. Based on a documental analysis with critical perspective, in this article we explain different mechanisms of power that permeate and potentially reproduce rape culture specifically in two of these settings: psychotherapy and the psychiatric institution. We recognize the collective actions of feminist and mad movements as forms of resistance, since they have problematized "mental health" as a device of power by making this reality (among others) visible as well as the need to continue investigating it. We seek to echo the voices that have broken the pact of silence.Downloads
