The insufficient research on regional elites in Chile has resulted in a homogeneous account by social sciences, eluding the question of the complex and networked constitution of our national context (and its elites). Southern Chilean elites come from European immigration, settled in the territory and actively participating in the economic, political, social, cultural and institutional life of their communities and territorial spaces. This exploratory-descriptive quantitative research focuses on the educational space given its relevance in the conformation and reproduction of the elites, and investigates the transition from school to university of students from private schools in the southern zone, describing the main transformations and continuities of this transition for the period 2011-2021. The results show an important heterogeneity, which expresses distinctions and verticalities within this reduced group, explained by the independent variables considered, exhibiting similarities and discontinuities over time (compared with itself) and with the central zone of the country.Downloads
