Abstract

In the current family transformations in our country, one can detect the emergence of life projects in which women choose motherhood without having, at the time, a stable partner and/or a parent for their child, by means of assisted reproduction or adoption. Given this scenario, the goal of this research is to provide an updated theoretical review of the phenomena and a critical analysis around the tensions that concur in the exercise of these new maternal practices, particularly in the field of generation of subjectivities. This has the intention of contributing to the theoretical debate about single parenthood by choice in the Chilean Social Sciences.
