The goal of this article is to present a proposal for studying personal narrative identity, with information from autobiographies and life story interviews, developing the contributions of narrative analysis on the study of identity, especially in the field of clinical psychology from a constructivist perspective. In Chile, this qualitative technique of analysis had been scarce developed in this field. However it has an important development internationally, with contributions from different disciplines of humanities and social sciences. A proposal is presented based on a research experience, giving fundaments with antecedents from the literature review of relevant topics in narrative analysis. A reflection is conducted of the contributions of narrative analysis in the clinical psychology field.
