This research examined the possible relationship between adverse life experiences and social maladjustment concerning the risk of sexual recidivism in adolescents involved in abusive sexual practices. A quantitative approach was used to analyze 115 adolescent males in specialized treatment. Three instruments were employed: Adolescent Social Behavior Self-Report Questionnaire (CACSA), Criminal Engagement Severity Scale (EGED), and Screening Scale for Adverse Childhood Experiences (EEA). The Estimate of Risk of Adolescent Sexual Offense Recidivism (ERASOR 2.0) was used to estimate the risk of sexual recidivism. The results highlighted those adolescents had a high number of adverse experiences in childhood, especially in the high-risk group. In terms of behavior, the high-risk group showed elevated scores in maladaptive behaviors, while the low-risk group exhibited more prosocial behavior. Regarding maladaptive behavior associated with breaking the law, the high-risk group showed higher values. Furthermore, it was identified that the presence of general delinquency in these adolescents is related to a higher risk of sexual recidivism. The relevance of a specialized approach is emphasized, and the need for comprehensive preventive public policies for sexual violence in adolescents is underscored.Downloads
