Cotidianeidad, sexo/género y trabajo sexual: Las rutinas de Gabriela

Abstract

Feminism has frequently studied the category of sex / gender in relation to the workplace of sex workers, disinterested in other areas of life or their daily lives. The objective of the article is to identify how a sex worker creates, sustains and resists conceptions of sex / gender in her daily life, from a feminist ethnomethodological perspective. To do this, we carried out an ethnographic monitoring for six months, consisting of observations, conversations and an in-depth interview. The conclusions indicate that Gabriela creates conceptions of sex / gender through the use of her body as a means of production. She supports them through traditional relationships of the heteropatriarchal system associated with the care and support of the life of her family group and her frequent clients. She resists them by routinizing her work in the daily life of her family and the neighbors in her work settings.
