This paper is the outcome of a research that analyzes the interrelations between the contemporary dominant logic and the work practices of high-complexity hospital professionals through two key-notions: body and time. The conceptions of these notions and also the method are grounded on the psychoanalytic theory. The research included semi-structured interviews with professionals from hospitalization units, and the use of field diaries. The results revealed a strong relation between the bodies of professionals and patients, as well as the difficulties of facing a sick body in its biopsychosocial complexity. They also brought to light that the body gets tired and distressed as work is performed in the hospital, and relations with both the sick body and the institutional body take place. A fast and agile time have been pointed out, permeating daily work from beginning to end and promoting rather scarce reflections on the practices developed in the institution. We conclude that these aspects do interfere in the ways work is experienced by the professionals as well as and in the processes of health production.Downloads
