We present some notes about a psychosocial investigation conducted with young people in deprivation of liberty in Rio de Janeiro. The research had as main theoretical lines the critical feminist epistemology and the poststructuralist conceptual elaborations about subjectivity, gender and sexuality. For two years, we conducted an investigation into two male and one female units of the detention system for youth in conflict with the law. Here, we present the specific process of a masculine unit, where we conducted an intervention research based on a feminist cartographic methodology. Through various techniques, we worked with young men and professionals, exploring the experiences of gender and sexuality both in the trajectories of young men and in the daily life of the institution. Likewise, some collective actions were carried out with the purpose of integrating gender and sexuality in the notion of the work of the institution. From the analysis of the construction of male performativity, its articulation with institutional codes and its production of bodies and subjectivities, we discuss the importance of conducting research with men from a critical feminist perspective.Downloads
